We're going to be updating the server this afternoon beginning at 2:00 Pacific Time (22:00 GMT), and lasting for up to 6 hours. This is a major update, and includes a new map system, many bug fixes, and most importantly a new system of training new players. New players will enter the game in a PvE only area (the Rookie server) and have to level up from Recruit or Larva to Private or Polyp before they can enter the PvP world of the game on the Novice server. This will force them to play at least a few PvE maps where they will have to work extra hard to not learn how to wear armor, or that they have more than one hive.

In addition we are opening up the Expert server to make room for the more experienced players. Novice, Expert, and Guild will all have 15 maps available when we start back up, and new items have been added to the stores for both Bugs and Humans. Finally, all the rank armors are available in the game, but are not yet available in the store (once the store has a warning that the armor you are buying is above your level, I'll add them to the store).

Oh, and we've got snowballs in the gold store for humans, and fireworks in the gold store for Bugs. 5g for 50. Santa Hats and Reindeer Antlers are available for your finding pleasure, and should be available in paper boxes or higher.

A question about the Rookie rooms PvE. Will the difficulty be random like the PvE maps Used to be? I really don't think it'd be fair for the new guys if they had to play them on Hard mode, or heck even Normal.

I agree with dracus, but I have one problem. Wouldn't dividing up the already small population make the wait for games even longer? I can't tell you how excited I am about the new items though. Yay, now we got several new excuses for idiots to yell OP.

niiiice, when will this game be back up? how long? and will the disconnect effect when your a bug still happen after? (i agree, buff the bugs a little way to easy)

I'm just glad an update has come, The last game i played (Legions) has had two updates in 2 years of development. I've seen more updates at BS in 6 months then i did in two years... takes a little getting use to.
